Taysom Hill has been a fantasy football darling for years now due to his Swiss Army knife ability. The jack-of-all-trades is currently at a crossroads in his career, however, after suffering a torn ACL last season. Saints fans and fantasy football owners are currently looking for any update on when Hill will be back. Below, we will deliver an injury update on Hill and look at potential dates in which he could return.

🩹 When will Taysom Hill return and be back with Saints?

Hill’s football world came crashing down on Dec. 1 of last year when he was carted off the turf at Caesars Superdome after suffering a torn ACL. The Saints fan favorite has been rehabbing like a mad man, however, and he looks to be on track to play this season.

Hill was seen at Saints training camp this summer, working out with trainers. It is expected that Hill will start the season on the reserve/PUP list, which will rule him out for the Saints’ first four games of the season.

Per NFL rules, players on the reserve/PUP list also aren’t allowed to practice. So, it may take a couple of extra weeks for Hill to ramp up.

An October or early November return to the field seems to be the most likely timeline for Hill. Here is a look at the Saints’ schedule around that time.

  • Week 6 (Sunday, Oct. 12) - New England Patriots at New Orleans Saints
  • Week 7 (Sunday, Oct. 19) - New Orleans Saints at Chicago Bears
  • Week 8 (Sunday, Oct. 26) - Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints
  • Week 9 (Sunday, Nov. 2) - New Orleans Saints at LA Rams
  • Week 10 (Sunday, Nov. 9) - New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers

The Saints’ bye week comes in Week 11. It is a possibility that the Saints wait until after the bye week to bring Hill back. Many NFL teams take advantage of the bye week this way when it comes to players returning from major injuries.

⏳ How long will Taysom Hill be out for?

As far as recovery from a torn ACL goes, it appears that Hill is on the fast track. It takes anywhere from 6-12 months to recover from a torn ACL. If Hill were to return for Week 6 of this season, it would be 10 months and 11 days from when the injury occurred.

Hill has been very durable throughout his NFL career, which began in 2017 as an undrafted player out of BYU. The 34-year-old played in 16 games in five out of the seven years he played in the league.

Hill is going undrafted in most leagues due to his current injury. In the past few years he has been a solid waiver-wire pickup due to his ability to pick up passing, receiving and rushing yardage.

He is owned in just 3 percent of Yahoo fantasy leagues.
